Case Study - Larry McJunkin

Background: Larry McJunkin is the Executive VP and co-owner of WUGNET, the world famous Windows Users Group Network (WUGNET). Founded in 1988 and launched officially on CompuServe in 1989, WUGNET is the oldest and largest independent online organization supporting the Microsoft Windows XP, 2000, NT, and 9x environments. WUGNET has actively provided third-party support for Microsoft's customers for over a decade and continually helps to provide peer-to-peer support for these Windows operating systems.

Problem: Larry has been using email since he started WUGNET. Like everyone else, he gets a lot of spam. He's even changed his email address just to eliminate the unwanted messages. Although Larry runs spam filtering software on his computer, he must still sift through all of the messages marked as spam to make sure the software doesn't inadvertently mark a message as spam when it's not. Because Larry gets hundreds of legitimate messages a day and over 1500 spam messages, this is a very time consuming task.
