Zaep AntiSpam Version 5.1.0.4
Zaep 5.1.0.4 was released January 2, 2008. A complete list of changes and upgrades follows:
BUG FIXES:
- Corrected a problem when processing an account with many email messages in the queue (more than 10,000). Zaep would appear to "lockup" during a processing period. It wasn't locked up, instead it was performing an operation inefficiently.
- Corrected a service bug where disabling the service, then attempting to start Zaep with the Start Menu, it would not start.
Zaep AntiSpam Version 5.1.0.3
Zaep 5.1.0.3 was released October 1, 2007. A complete list of changes and upgrades follows:
FEATURES:
- Added the display of the subject of the first message that triggered a challenge in and under the pending challenge lists.
- Added extra protection when spammers use the "from" field matching an account's email address, but the "reply to" field or "return path" field is a different email address. When this occurs, and the account is setup to allow messages from the account, the message is now challenged using the "reply to" field or "return path" field.
BUG FIXES:
- Changed Zaep service installation so that it doesn't setup the service to "Allow service to interact with desktop", avoiding an unnecessary error event in the Windows Vista event viewer.

- Maintain the location of the About dialog when started from the tray icon.
- Windows 98, 98 SE, ME, and NT 4.0 are no longer supported. Microsoft has discontinued support for these operating systems and no longer provides DLLs and libraries to developers that are compatible on these operating systems.- Corrected a problem when pressing F1 in the about box (from the tray) where Zaep would attempt to use WinHelp.

- Corrected a UPnP bug where Zaep always opened a port for the configuration server, even when remote configuration was not enabled.
- Corrected a UPnP bug where toggling remote configuration didn't always update UPnP port maps properly.
- Corrected a bug where certain Zaep configuration values would get reset to default values under specific circumstances.
- Corrected a bug that could cause Zaep to crash when installed as a plug-in and an address was added to the whitelist.

Zaep 5.0.0.1 was released June 12, 2006. A complete list of changes and upgrades follows:
FEATURES:
- Updated the Splash graphic, wizard graphic, and installer wizard graphic to a new look.
- Updated various other graphics and icons used in the Zaep Administration pages.
BUG FIXES:
- Corrected a problem where Zaep was unable to send out challenge messages on Windows Server 2003 computers with multiple external IP addresses unless the challenge socket was bound to the confirmation server's IP address.
- Corrected a bug introduced in version 5.0.0.0 where attempting to start Zaep from the Start menu, desktop shortcut, or quicklaunch button when installed as a plug-in would incorrectly add Zaep as a system service causing conflicts when the computer was rebooted.
- Corrected ZaepSetup.exe not having the proper icon.
- Corrected a potential bug introduced in version 5.0.0.0 where Zaep plug-in could crash upon start-up if it ran past the trial period.
- Corrected a bug where Zaep did not add itself to the system tray upon user login after the user previously logged off.
- Corrected a bug where Zaep was not properly updating the tooltip displayed by the system tray icon.
- Fixed misalignment of wizard image on the plug-in screen of the Zaep Configuration Wizard.
- Corrected a "404 Not Found" error returned when a whitelist import was performed by the admin on the global account. The 404 error was cosmetic only in that the import still took place.
- Corrected an install issue where Zaep did not properly issue a warning if the upgrade protection for the registration ID in use did not entitle the user to the version of Zaep contained in the installer. This bug was introduced in version 5.0.0.0.
- Corrected a misaligned background image on the admin and account login / logout pages when viewed in Mozilla Firefox.
- Corrected an administration bug that caused extra lines of whitespace to be inserted at the top of Zaep administrator pages when viewed in Mozilla Firefox.
Zaep AntiSpam Version 5.0.0.0
Zaep 5.0.0.0 was released May 2, 2006. A complete list of changes and upgrades follows:
FEATURES:
- Added support for Universal Plug-and-Play (UPnP). Zaep can automatically configure UPnP capable devices to create a port forward for the confirmation web server. Zaep can also configure port forwards for the POP3 and SMTP proxies, and the configuration Web server (Professional version only).
- Added ability to add Zaep to the Windows Firewall during installation on Windows XP SP2 or newer operating systems.
- Added support for automatic integrated update checker that periodically checks for new versions of the software. This can be configured from the About box under "Check For Update".
- Added "Network Information" dialog to About box, which displays information about installed network adapters and basic Windows networking information. Clicking the "Support" button on this screen will copy the information to the clipboard to make it easy to send to RhinoSoft.com in a technical support email.
- Incoming messages where the "To" address is not the Zaep account address that contain the account address in either the "Return-Path" or "Reply-To" message headers are no longer treated as messages originating from the Zaep account address. Instead, the "From" address is used. This is done to combat a recent spammer tactic that forges messages with the recipient's email address in one of the sending address headers to defeat whitelisting.
- The splash dialog is no longer displayed when Zaep is running as an MDaemon plug-in.
- Shortcuts created by the installer on the desktop, in the start menu, and on the quicklaunch bar now always attempt to start Zaep as a system service if installed as a service.
- When logging Zaep plug-in activity to MDaemon's log window, a dashed line is now inserted after Zaep finishes processing a message, pursuant to MDaemon logging standards. Versions of MDaemon prior to 9.0 inserted this dashed line for the plug-in.
- Improved the Confirmation Server test to include more information and better testing to ensure your confirmation server is accessible by the Internet.
BUG FIXES:
- Corrected an SMTP proxy bug where Zaep always listened on all available IP addresses, even when a specific IP address was entered.
- Corrected a bug where removing the registration ID from Zaep did not cause it to become unregistered immediately.
- Corrected an issue where the reminder that the trial period for Zaep was expiring soon appeared too frequently towards the end of the trial period.
- Corrected a problem where Zaep was unable to parse the Return-Path email address from messages with improperly formatted Return-Path headers where the email address was not contained within angle brackets (<>).
