Zaep AntiSpam Version 2.1.0.0
Zaep 2.1.0.0 was released May 18, 2004. A complete list of changes and upgrades follows:
FEATURES:
- Added the ability to import a list of email addresses.
- Added the ability to disable (or enable) the automatic approval of an account's email address. When a message arrives claiming to be from the account's email address, it may be automatically approved or disapproved.
BUG FIXES:
- Corrected a problem where Zaep could GPF while trying to resolve a sender's email address.
- Corrected a problem where the update checker would pass the Zaep.com web site 730 or 365 for the number of copies, instead of the actual number of copies purchased.
- Corrected a problem where some email clients place the "From:" field on multiple lines, Zaep wasn't interpreting this correctly.
Zaep AntiSpam Version 2.0.0.3
Zaep 2.0.0.3 was released May 5, 2004. A complete list of changes and upgrades follows:
FEATURES:
- Added the ability to login to either the administrative pages or the account pages via URL parameters. For example:
- http://127.0.0.1:8082/account?account=test@yourdomain.com&password=yourpassword
- Improved email address / name parsing to allow for quotes in email addresses
BUG FIXES:
- Corrected a problem where names with quotes in them could cause problems when parsing.
- Corrected standard challenge help message, some words were jammed together.
- Corrected a problem where Zaep may not have used all of the resolved MX records to find an SMTP server to send the challenge message.
Zaep AntiSpam Version 2.0.0.2
Zaep 2.0.0.2 was released April 1, 2004. A complete list of changes and upgrades follows:
FEATURES:
- Added the ability for the Zaep administrator to enable or disable accounts.
- Added more verification for domain names during the setup procedure, so that full URLs are not inadvertently entered.
- Added "Reply-To:" comparison. If the reply to address is white listed, then the message is also approved. If the reply to address is on the black list, it is deleted. This is useful for mailing lists.
- Added support for International Domain Names (IDN) such as enténial.com. For more information, visit http://www.idnnow.com/
- Increased configuration timeout to 30 minutes of inactivity. The previous amount of time was 10 minutes.
- Added a check during installation and configuration so the confirmation server IP address cannot be set to a private IP address.
- Added the ability to relay the challenge message through the SMTP server only when the sender's SMTP server disallows such activity. This problem happens when Zaep is running on a computer with a dynamic IP address, some large ISPs block direct SMTP activity.
- Force admin logout to display the admin logout page even when logging out from the account configuration pages.
BUG FIXES:
- Corrected a potential problem where the Pending Challenges list wasn't being saved when shutting down the computer or rebooting the computer.
- Corrected a message parsing problem where mail headers not following the specification could be misinterpreted, the parsing mechanism was made more robust.
- Corrected a problem where binding or specifying the POP3 Listen IP address, Zaep wouldn't automatically check email.
- Corrected a problem where the Zaep.Challenges file wouldn't be written when manual changes were made to the pending list. This problem only appeared when Zaep was shut down prior to scheduled writing of this file.
- Corrected a problem where pending challenges that would contain HTML code would cause the list to display incorrectly.
- Corrected a bug where Zaep would save the POP3 password even when it was not the correct password sent by an email client.
- Corrected a potential display problem where an invalid confirmation URL could display HTML code as HTML, now it's displayed literally as HTML code, not acted upon by the browser.
- Corrected a problem where some email clients incorrectly format mail headers where a space is used to signify a continuation of the previous line, instead of a tab.
- Corrected a bug where email addresses and some other data was not correctly being parsed in HTTP POSTs. If a string contained a "+" character a " " was inserted instead.
- Corrected a problem where when running on a machine that's been running for a couple years, Zaep would miss sending some challenge messages.
- Corrected a problem in the trial version where if the trial warning dialog was up, Zaep wouldn't check challenges or check email on a timed basis.
- Corrected a problem in the trial version where if the trial warning dialog was up, Zaep wouldn't display the system tray icon.
- Corrected a problem where some mail servers use <LF> instead of <CR><LF> to terminate header lines. When messages like this were encountered, Zaep would appear to "hang" while checking email messages, or logging in to the POP3 server.
- If Zaep is already automatically checking the POP3 server for email, and an email client requests a POP3 connection, Zaep terminates the automatic check so the email client's check doesn't fail.
Zaep AntiSpam Version 2.0.0.1
Zaep 2.0.0.1 was released March 9, 2004. A complete list of changes and upgrades follows:
FEATURES:
- Added Subject Word List to accounts.
- Attempt to resolve email domains when MX records don't exist for a domain.
- Changed the challenge attempt to try to resolve the sender's domain for the entire no response period, instead of immediately blacklisting these messages.
- Changed DNS MX resolver to use other listed MX records from MX requests.
- Added "Unable to Send Challenge" statistic item for both the account and globally. This item means Zaep was unable to send the challenge, usually due to the inability to connect to the sender's email server.
- Added the ability to specify a different email address to use for the challenge message.
- Removed the requirement for the account to contain a POP3 server prior to automatically checking email on a timed basis.
BUG FIXES:
- Corrected a bug where the POP3 commands were not being rebuilt correctly in some cases.
- Corrected a problem with certain email client's header formatting. The challenge message could never be sent.
- Corrected a bug under Windows NT where Zaep couldn't find the DNS servers configured under the TCP settings.
